Three of Four

In Drawing class, we were asked to pick our four best drawings from the entire year. I've picked three of them, but I'm not sure of the last one. There's one I'm thinking of, but I still have a couple of weeks to draw something that will be the fourth piece. We'll see what happens. :) For now, here are the top three that I picked.

Oh, hey, this looks familiar! I posted a work-in-progress of this piece last week. Here is the final! I'm really happy with how it came out. :) I should use charcoal more often, I get better results...

This is the second piece! This was seriously one of the hardest things I've ever drawn. Each finger is at such a delicate angle.. augh! I worked really hard on this, and I hope it shows! This is black and white conte crayon.
Last is a still-life of a plane. I had no idea what this thing even was when I first saw it. It's a tool used for shaving wood (Wikipedia link)! Anyway, I typically hate still lives, but this tool had so many curves and angles, it wasn't that bad to draw. Graphite. The fourth one will be decided soon!

Photography

By request of my dad (hi!), I'm going to make a post about photography.

Now, I don't consider myself a photographer by any means. I don't have any fancy equipment, or even a really fancy camera. I don't have the patience to be a professional photographer. Basically what I do is take pictures of things that interest me and try and create interesting angles. I am quite fond of electrical poles. I do not know why. Anyway, here are a few of my favorite pictures. I have a flickr, but I haven't updated it in ages. If I take some new pictures I like, I'll post them here. And I'll try and catch up with my Flickr!

As a bonus, have a couple of pigeons that were on the Empire State building. Be sure to enlarge the second one to see the EVIL EYE the pigeon is giving you. It's quite funny.

Figure Drawing

I had some free time, so I took a bit of time to take some pictures of some of my most recent figure drawings. Each of these is typically a two-session drawing, so about 5-6 hours goes into each one. A couple of these might be one session drawings (about 3 hours), but I'm not sure which ones, so oh well. :)

Here are a couple of pages of gestures to start this post off. Each pose is about 15 seconds.

Okay, onto the figure drawings! These first two are charcoal.
This one will be finished tomorrow. :)
Next one is a heightened drawing with black and white conte pencil.
All the rest of these are graphite!
That's all for now! Comments/critique are always welcome~

A few more recent sketches

Quick post today with a few doodles! These are all newer... done since starting college. :)

This first doodle was drawn while to design an original character. It ended up looking like a friend of mine, haha. But I love the angle of the face. There's just something really pretty about it...
I drew this while watching The Daily Show one night. I like blood and bandages. :X
More gore! xD I drew this on the back of my schedule in Digital Design... the idea was that the girl attached the bottom half of a mermaid to herself... yea. :D
This is a picture of myself and my roommates that I drew before winter break. I never got to finishing it. I'm the one in the purple sweater.

Ceramics!

I'll admit it. I have another love besides drawing. And that love it ceramics! I lucked out and got into my high school's ceramics class as a freshman, where I had my Kindergarten art teacher as a teacher (No, seriously!). Anywho, I fell in love with ceramics and proceeded to take it 4 more times. :D I love it~~ <3 So here are a few pieces!

This first piece was done for a vase project. It's supposed to be a heart with a wing attached (Not a snail, like some people said ;3;). It's made with two different clay bodies. Dark brown clay is used for heart portion and white clay is used on the wing and base. The heart cracked unintentionally in the kiln because of lack of experience, but I actually liked it better that way! It was later destroyed by my cat.. ;__;

The assignment was to create a dinnerware set with a bowl, plate, and cup. I decided to to deflated balloons. Don't ask me why, I have no idea. :D From Left to Right: Blue bowl, red plate, and yellow cup. :] (No they did not have to be functional)
This is a kiln goddess that we had to make for our final project out of raku clay. I did a "goddess of destruction." It was my first time making a human out of clay, so her anatomy is off everywhere, but I think it's pretty good for my first try. She is supposed to look gross and broken. She broke about 3 times... she's okay, though.

We had to design a piece to fit a computer modem inside of it. I made a robot. :D The cords for the computer were supposed to come out of the heart on the right and be held by his hand and "eaten" by him, and go out the back of his head. My mind is weird. He has a copper pipe spray painted silver as his arm on the left. :)

This was something silly that I did in my free time. It's a sgraffito tile with Keroro Gunso on it. I was highly addicted to the series at the time I did this. The kanji on the left were a pain to write!
I forget what the theme was for this project but I did stuctural vs. abstract. Brown and white clay with swirled interiors. They come together. Somewhat. haha. This is probably one of the most difficult things I have made in ceramics. IT TOOK FOREVER.

This was for a teapot/teacup project. The robot was supposed to have pipe arms that were doing the Robot dance, and would also pour tea, but I never got around to it. :/ The cup was rushed, and you can tell, haha. Oh, well. (This was done before the previous robot. Can you see the improvement??)

Alright! That's all for now. I hope you enjoy! :) Like I said, I still have more, but I'll have to get pictures of them. I wasn't able to take ceramics this year in college, so hopefully I can take it next year! I miss it!
